Early Music America Announces Winners of Outreach Grants and College-Level Ensemble Grants
May 21, 2012—[SEATTLE, WA]—Early Music America, the national service organization for the field of early music, is pleased to announce the winners of its annual Outreach Grants and its College-Level Ensemble Grants. The Outreach Grants support outreach and education projects that draw new audiences and participants, both children and adults, to early music. The College-Level Ensemble Development grants are offered to college or university Early Music Ensembles to support specific projects that will enrich or broaden the educational experience of the students, and help to elevate the profile of the ensemble on campus, in their community, or nationally.
The Outreach Grant Winners
Ars Lyrica Houston, for educational projects in the Houston area: “Harp History” for K-5, features harps from the Middle Ages through the Baroque, and “Renaissance Rock” for K-12, introduces students to an array of period wind instruments.
The Rose Ensemble, to provide free choral music workshops for school and community choirs during its nine-city concert tour in Minnesota with its “Slavic Wonders” program.
MYSO (Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra) Baroque Players, to hire a professional harpsichordist to work with the youth musicians.
Jessica Powell, Capitol Consort of Viols Outreach Project, for hands-on introduction to early bowed string instruments to students in grades 3-12 in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Echoing Air, an ensemble based in Indianapolis, to provide educational projects and youth instruction during its 2012-2013 concert series.

As the university semesters come to a close (juries and finals!), Echoing Air will be spending a lot of time this summer working on grants, an upcoming October tour in Virginia and the Carolinas, a reprise of Echoing Scare on Halloween night, our 2013-14 concert season, corporate sponsorships, and a hundred other things that a thriving non-profit needs to stay on top of.
Countertenors Steven Rickards and Nathan Medley will be kicking off their annual Indianapolis Vocal Arts Institute for young singers in mid-July, and Steven will again travel across the pond to England in August to teach at the AIMS International Music School.
It’s a good thing we enjoy what we do! Otherwise this might seem like work ...

We have had some inquiries from prospective venues over the past couple of weeks as to how Echoing Air has been reviewed in the past.
So, we’ve added a Reviews link to our website so that everyone can share in the nice comments that people have taken the time to send in.
Thank you everyone for your kind words!!

Steven and Echoing Air –
Many thanks for participating in Seminole State College’s ArtsMatters series. The format was absolutely perfect! The entire audience was engaged in your presentation as you asked them to join you on the stage. Those students included guitarists, percussionists, vocalists, instrumentalists and pianists. The dialogue amongst the students lasted for days.
It is always a pleasure to have you visit our campus.
Thanks again.
